The chewable kills adult fleas before they lay eggs for 35 days. The oral treatment destroys ticks and further prevents tick infestations. The effectiveness of Simparica lasts longer and reduces the chances of future flea infestations. The chew reduces the incidences of flea allergy dermatitis. The flavored chew is easy to dose and highly palatable.

Simparica contains Sarolaner as an active ingredient, which belongs to isoxazoline class of parasiticides. The active ingredient is well absorbed and starts working within few hours. It disturbs the function of the nerve cells, and works at the neuromuscular junction in insects. This results in uncontrolled neuromuscular activity leading to death of insects or acarines. The effectiveness starts in 3 hours after initial administration.
